The ladies of the royal family must have spent months preparing their looks for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations over the weekend, with a huge amount of thought on their clothes, shoes, hats, jewellery, make-up and, of course, their hair.

Catherine’s low chignon

The Duchess of Cambridge rocked a low chignon twice at the various events to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne, and she looked elegant and stunning both times.

Firstly, she wore her hair in a plaited side chignon for the Trooping the Colour parade, which she embellished with a white Philip Treacy hat. The following day, she sported a similar twisted chignon at the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s, when she wore another hat by the milliner, this time in pale lemon.

Princess Charlotte’s plaits

Girls, both big and little, will be asking for Charlotte’s pretty plaits, after the young princess wore them in a half-up, half-down style on more than one occasion over the weekend.

The seven-year-old daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton finished off the look with a pretty blue ribbon, leaving the rest of her hair naturally straight.

Meghan Markle’s chic bun

Meghan Markle turned up to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s anniversary, adding a touch of Hollywood to the proceedings.

The former actress looked effortlessly chic in an entirely white Dior belted coat dress ensemble, which she teamed with a matching Stephen Jones for Dior hat, Allure revealed.

Instead of letting her natural waves loose, she had her hair tied back into a low understated bun, letting the statement headpiece take centre stage.
